本次“国际视野下的中国”大讲堂由中国日报和清华大学联合主办，于北京时间周二晚上8:30分通过网络面向全球直播。
活动邀请了著名专家学者、世界卫生组织代表，以及居住在受疫情影响最严重的城市——武汉的普通民众，他们共同发表了各自的见解，分享了抗击疫情的心得体会。

清华大学校务委员会主任陈旭在致辞中表示，人类命运息息相关，公共卫生安全是世界各国共同面临的挑战，新冠肺炎是全人类共同的敌人。
3月2日，习近平主席莅临清华大学考察疫情防控科研攻关工作时强调，“要坚持向科学要答案、要方法”。清华大学在抗体药物和疫苗研发方面取得了重要的突破，并向全球科研人员免费开放了药物研发的资源和平台。
清华大学始终将师生员工的健康和安全放在首位，积极履行社会责任，派遣医疗人员驰援武汉和北京抗疫一线，同时深化国际交流与合作，为全球抗疫做出积极贡献。
"公共卫生安全是所有国家面临的共同挑战，新冠肺炎是全人类的共同敌人，”清华大学校务委员会主任陈旭在开场白中说道。
"团结与合作是我们对抗病毒的最有力武器，也是唯一有效的行动方式，”她说道。

中国日报总编辑周树春在致辞中表示，目前，全世界都在与共同的敌人——新冠病毒作斗争。中国人民做出了巨大牺牲，遏制了病毒的传播，为其他国家赢得了宝贵的时间。
习近平主席强调，中国始终秉承人类命运共同体理念，并呼吁国际社会携手打造人类卫生健康共同体。中国的疫情防控措施得到了国际社会的积极评价，中国也在积极向其他国家分享信息和经验，提供援助支持。
周树春表示，这是需要团结一致、携手聚力的时刻，也是需要理性思考、担当尽责的时刻，希望世界尽快走出疫情的阴霾，以更坚定的步伐推动构建人类命运共同体。
周树春在开幕致辞中说："全世界现在都在与共同的敌人——新冠肺炎作斗争。"自疫情爆发以来，习近平主席一直强调，中国秉持人类命运共同体理念，并呼吁国际社会团结起来，建立一个共同的卫生健康体。
"快速蔓延的疫情让所有国家一起处于同一艘船上，”周先生在开场白中表示。“现在是团结和团结的时候。这是理性及承担责任的时候。”
他说，中国人民付出的牺牲阻止了病毒的传播，为世界其他国家赢得了宝贵的时间，让他们为迫在眉睫的危机做好准备。

世卫组织命名疫病时谨慎避免关联地区，以促进全球联防
世界卫生组织总干事高级顾问布鲁斯·艾尔沃德表示，世卫组织在命名新冠肺炎等疾病时十分谨慎，避免与特定的国家或地区联系，因为给疫病贴上标签与“地名”标签，不利于全球联防和控制。
中国应对疫情的有效方式和经验
艾尔沃德分享了他在疫情严重时期访问中国的个人感受，认为应对疫情必须反应迅速。他认为，中国通过早发现、早隔离、早治疗等措施，有效控制了疫情。
社会责任感和战胜2003年“非典”的经验，是中国抗击新冠肺炎疫情的重要依托。
国际合作是应对疫情的关键
北京大学燕京学堂特聘教授何亚非表示，新冠肺炎疫情是全球性的公共卫生危机，对全人类构成严重威胁。
正如习近平主席所说，国际社会最需要的是坚定信心，齐心协力，团结应对，全面加强国际合作，凝聚集体应对疫情的强大合力。G20特别峰会同意启动规模为5万亿美元的经济计划，这表明全球性危机需要全球化的解决方案。
在面对疫情引发的公共卫生、经济和金融危机时，各国都不可能独自应对，各国战“疫”的成败依赖于有效的国际合作。中国正在持续向遇到困难的国家提供力所能及的援助，展现出大国责任与担当。
呼吁全球团结一致
世界知名中国问题专家罗伯特·库恩认为，对抗新冠肺炎疫情是全世界目前最棘手的问题，大国对抗无济于事，政治指责对所有人都不利。
只有中美两国在药物治疗、疫苗研究等方面积极合作，才能为最终战胜病毒、重振世界经济做出重要贡献。
库恩指出，习近平主席提出的“人类命运共同体”理念有利于维护全球共同利益，需要各国共同捍卫并不断丰富发展。
库恩对中国战胜疫情充满信心，他认为中国“有决心、有能力、愿意不断改变和提高”，具备强有力的领导核心和强大的社会组织能力，中国抗击疫情的成果将成为世界防控疫情的“一个转折点”。
Kuhn stated that the two nations can embark on a collaborative endeavor to combat the pandemic, developing vaccines and medications to eliminate and prevent COVID-19, or they can passively witness the unchecked spread of the global pandemic and its devastating impact on the global economy.
"Fuel the virus through US-China rivalry. Or extinguish it through US-China solidarity," he remarked.
According to Kuhn, China's vision of a shared future calls for all nations to prioritize the greater good, which aligns with the challenges we face in these tumultuous times.

Jim O'Neill, chair of the international think tank Chatham House and a former commercial secretary to the UK Treasury, expressed that the global economy faces a crisis that surpasses even that of 2008, compounded by the unprecedented public health origins of the current crisis.
Echoing China's successful recovery and resumption of economic activities, O'Neill emphasized the significance of China's economic growth for global economic performance. He urged Western nations like those in Europe and the United States to actively learn from China and other Asian countries' experiences in managing the pandemic.
In his speech, Jim O'Neill emphasized that the world needs to respond with urgency, imagination, and determination, warning that delay could lead to a severe recession.
O'Neill highlighted China's return to normal economic growth as a crucial factor for the global economy's overall performance.
Two individuals who spent the previous months in Wuhan - the Chinese city severely impacted by the novel coronavirus - also presented at the event.

Zhang Ruiru, a Tsinghua University student from Wuhan, returned to her hometown for the Chinese New Year holiday but found her parents being diagnosed with the infection and having to be hospitalized while she herself was placed under observation. Facing the challenges of living alone during the epidemic and interacting with doctors and nurses in the quarantine facility, Zhang emerged as an independent, resilient, and appreciative individual.
Fortunately, Zhang's parents recovered, and she resumed her online university courses. Throughout the pandemic, Zhang observed a radiant light of compassion among healthcare professionals, volunteers, and all those risking their safety to fight the virus and aid others.
Zhang expressed pride in the resilience of the Chinese people, exemplified in their response to the SARS outbreak in 2003, the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, and the current COVID-19 pandemic. She anticipates the day when people worldwide can unite in victory against this virus.
Zhang Ruiru, a 20-year-old student at Tsinghua University, went back to her home city of Wuhan for the traditional Chinese New Year holiday. Both of her parents were later diagnosed with the infection, and have recovered.
The outbreak, Zhang said, enabled her to appreciate fully the remarkable unity of the Chinese people.
"Chinese people have stood out as one to fight the virus. Medical workers from all over the country descended on Wuhan to help, resources were sent into the city from all over China," she said. "I'm sure those medical workers were extremely exhausted, and they must have been afraid of being infected, but they didn't show it."

Megan Monroe, from California, U.S., was residing in Wuhan, teaching drama, dance, and public speaking to teenagers in an educational institute. Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, she made the decision to remain in Wuhan rather than take up the chartered plane evacuation organized by the U.S. embassy. Monroe based her choice on the high cost of airfare and concerns over possible onboard cross-infection.
Monroe embraced a positive outlook amidst the pandemic, sharing videos on social media to keep international internet users informed about her daily life in Wuhan. She received both encouragement and occasional misunderstanding from viewers.
Monroe stressed that the virus transcends race and nationality and urged other countries to draw lessons from China's effective containment of the epidemic. Global solidarity is essential for ultimate triumph over this threat, she emphasized.
